Cape Town and the Kruger Park are the most popular destination for overseas couples that want to get married in South Africa. The options are plentiful and range from upmarket weddings at top venues or game lodges to intimate weddings on the beach or Table Mountain and it is easy for the couple to bring in and accommodate themselves, their family and guests according to their budget. The legal requirements for a wedding are simple. All you need is an authorized marriage officer and a copy of your ID Book. If you are under 21, you will also need a permission form completed by both parents, if you are divorced, you will additionally need a copy of the divorce decree and if you are a widower, you will need a copy of your late spouse´s death certificate. All couples will receive an abridged Marriage Certificate directly after the ceremony. The application for a Full Marriage Certificate and/or an Apostile after the ceremony, can take up to 4 weeks.
