Outdoor Activities
4x4 Adventure Trails
There are currently five motorised trails in the Kruger National Park. With a limit of six vehicles per trail per day, these trails are intended to bring you into close contact with some of the Park’s most stunning environments and its wildlife and they are not intended to ‘test’ a 4x4 vehicle. To reduce environmental impacts only these vehicles are allowed on the trails and as the adventure trails are not graveled, they will be closed after rains so that they can dry completely. The trails are self-drive and undertaken at your own risk, but a little common sense and preparation should keep you out of serious trouble. There are no facilities along the routes and you should make sure that you bring out with you what you take in. You should take great care at all times, especially when alighting from your vehicle, and keep well away from animals. Participants are requested to take their GPS with.

Guided Bush Walks
Guided walks are available from most camps. Trained field guides (with backup rifles) take groups of up to 8 people out into the bush for a few hours, where you track rhino, elephant and lion on foot and learn and observe fascinating facts about the African bush.

Wilderness Trails
There are seven guided wilderness walking trails available in the Kruger National Park. The wilderness trails allow adventurous visitors a close personal encounter with nature by traversing large areas of unspoiled wilderness on foot, under the guidance of armed and experienced trail rangers. In keeping with the wilderness atmosphere, sites for the trails camps are carefully selected for their scenic beauty and diverse plant and animal life. Groups spend three nights in four rustic two-bed huts. A covered lapa serves as a dining/socialising area where the campfire’s flickering shadows encourage stories of adventures in the African bush. Simple, wholesome meals are provided.

Mountain Bike Trails
Full or half-day mountain bike trails available at Olifants Camp. The procedure for MTB Trails is very similar to the guided bush walks. There is place for a maximum of 6 participants per trail. Two qualified and armed field guides will lead the trails. Olifants Camp will supply the mountain bikes. Backpacks, water bottles, bicycle helmets and snacks will also be provided. A full bush interpretation will be done on the trail.

Lebombo Overland Trail
The Lebombo Overland trail is a 5 day experience and rated as the best eco-trail in Southern Africa due to the diversity of the fauna and flora encountered en route. As the route runs along the Eastern boundary of the park on a gravel road, only 4x4 vehicles are permitted. The popular 4x4 route covers a distance of over 500 km. It departs from Crocodile Bridge every Sunday and ends at the Pafuri Picnic Site in the North on Thursdays. Clients are required to drive their own vehicles, cater for themselves and to carry their own equipment. Only 5 vehicles are allowed on a trail at one time to ensure that the environment is not unduly affected. A park's ranger leads the convoy and regular stops to interpret aspects within the environment or to share special experiences. Three camps are visited whilst driving up North to refuel, replenish food supplies and to allow tourist the opportunity to shower.
Golf
There is a nine-hole course available at Skukuza, a unique opportunity for golfing enthusiasts within Kruger Park, designed for all levels of golfers. The course is not fenced in and while the graceful and curious giraffe may stop by to thoroughly analyse the arc of your swing, the grazing impalas and warthogs may just not pay you any attention at all. Any wayward shots are severely punishable with a play in the rough where one may have to face the true inhabitants of the park.

Other activities
Bird watching is always worthwhile, especially during the day, when most of the game is invisible. In some camps, boating is one of the activities on offer. You can travel out into the surrounding areas by boat looking for wild game, birds and at the general scenery. You can even fish in certain areas. Other exciting activities offered by independent tour operators may include; open-air dining, horse-back safaris, ballooning, quad bike drives, scenic flights, game capture, assistance with field research, anti-poaching exercises...and many more.
