| There are three airports in the Kruger area, serviced by SAAirlinks and Nationwide Airlines. • Southern Section: Kruger Mmpumalanga International Airport (new) • Central Section : Hoedspruit Airport • Northern Section: Phalaborwa Airport Transfers from the airport can be organised into the National Park at any time, however it is advisable to be mobile when staying in the park. Organised game drives are only offered in the morning and late afternoon. The camps are like small towns and if you are not mobile, you will be stuck in town the whole day, as you are not allowed to leave on foot. |

| Unless you stay in an all-inclusive private game lodge or have booked a Private Safari Tour Package, you should hire a car. The park´s game drives are only offered in the morning and late afternoon, so you will be stuck in the camp the rest of the day, as you are not allowed to leave on foot. The park has been designed for self-drive game viewing. The access roads to the entrance gates are tarred and also the tourist roads in the park are either tarred or good gravel roads. Normal traffic rules apply, but please remember that you may never leave designated roads or leave your vehicle unless in a designated area. Gate times must be strictly adhered to and late comers will be subject to a fine. The distance from Johannesburg to the Kruger Park is about 420 km to the southern gates, from Cape Town about 1850km, from Durban about 750km and from Port Elizabeth about 1500km. | ||

| Gate Closing Times | ||
| The Kruger Park Gates open at 05h30 from Oct – March and at 06h00 from May-Sept. The Camp Gates open at 04h30 from Nov-Jan, at 5h30 from Feb-March and at 06h00 from May-Oct. All Park and Camp Gates close at 18h30 from Nov-Feb, 18h00 from Aug-Oct 17h30 from March-July. Late entry escorts are only available for certain camps that are located close to the Entrance Gates. This is only available until 21:00pm and escorts depart every half hour until this time. Gate Security will phone camp duty when there are guests and transport is arranged. The fee is currently ZAR 110.00 per vehicle but is subject to change without notice. Latecomers at entrance gates for other camps will be refused entry, whilst offenders at rest camps will be warned and fined, if they are repeat offenders. | ||
