Lion’s Head, together with Signal Hill -which is also known as Lion’s Rump- embrace the west side of the city centre of Cape Town .
A hike to the summit is relatively quick and easy and it’s more than worth the exercise: from the top you have these superb views over the City Bowl and the Atlantic Seaboard, especially around sun-set time. Sign the visitors book, unwind and watch as the sun sets from high above. Enjoy a bottle of red wine while watching as the sun streaks, slowly, across the seas to rise somewhere else on earth. For something a little different, try climbing Lion´s Head at night by the light of the full moon. Do this in a group - remember you are still in the middle of a major city - and join the locals who make a monthly ritual of climbing the Lion to howl like wolves at the full moon.
