Landmark Panorama of Noordhoek Beach
Noordhoek is situated at the foot of Chapman´s Peak. As the road winds downhill, the dazzling, seemingly endless stretch of white sands of Noordhoek beach will take your breath away. How inviting the sand, how awesome the rolling waves, how brilliant the turquoise blue water below. This is the widest beach in the Peninsula, and measures about 8km in length, stretching across to Kommetjie. Known as Long Beach, the beach is nonetheless dangerous for swimming because of stong backwash and currents. Not too dangerous though for surfers, given the right conditions, and definitely popular with riders and walkers. It has a delightful village atmosphere with awesome mountain and sea views. Here you will find horses, pigs, cows, hens, ducks, geese and rabbits roaming around in gardens and open public spaces. Here you will see numerous wild peacocks, guinea fowl, Egyptian Geese and meerkats. This is where you will hear the owls hooting at night, where you will watch the Black Eagle soaring above, and where you will hear the call of the Fish Eagle echo as it flies over the majestic mountains.
